Place: Adana
Tunes: VNV Nation, Puddle of Mudd
Today, there was something wrong with this show - again! We were not lost, made it to the hotel in good time and managed to do all the adventure travel things one is supposed to do - kebabs and road racing.
The roads were in very good condition south of Ankara and there was not too much heavy traffic. The city driving in a smaller place like Adama seemed to be a bit more sensible. But if your "normal" level is Istanbul, anything else will seem lame in comparison. The scenery was good to excellent almost all the way through with lots of hills, mountains, steep cliffs, some forests et cetera.
We saw several crash sites along the way through the country and a local idiot almost produced a new one by deciding to show that he can run a bike off the road with a van. Luckily no crash but it shows you that even if you fail in everything in your life, you can still be the king of the road.
Today's road racing took place in the afternoon on good roads and there was no animals, rain, darkness, people or shit on the road to worry about. When there was not that much to go, something like 50k left, the option was to take the main road to Adana or this parallel, twisty smaller road. The main group took the more manly option of the small roads and almost kept up with the lorries on the highway.
Tomorrow it will be one of those days. We have an early wake up and a race to the Syrian border. Through to Syria for a bit to the Lebanese border. Then through to Lebanon and a drive to Beirut. Sounds like a piece of cake.
The insurance for the bike also stops on the Turkish border, so it's free fall from there!
